DJ Uiagalelei discusses 'fun' Oregon State debut after accounting for 5 touchdowns
DJ Uiagalelei had a successful debut with Oregon State as the Beavers routed San Jose State 42-17 on Sunday.
Out of the 6 Beaver touchdowns on Sunday, Uiagalelei accounted for 5 of them: he went 20-of-25 for 239 yards and 3 touchdowns through the air while throwing 0 interceptions. He also had a pair of touchdown carries in the 1st half.
It was a performance that went about as well as Uiagalelei could have hoped for in his first game in an Oregon State uniform.
“Honestly it was great, man,” he told CBS Sports Network after the game. “My offensive line did an unbelievable job. Receivers, running backs. Coach Lindgren did a great job calling plays today. It was fun, man, I had a lot of fun today….it was a great win today. Great team win.”
Uiagalelei and the Beavers play their home opener on Saturday against UC Davis at 6 p.m. PT. We’ll see how the Clemson transfer can build on Sunday’s showing.
