Will Stein is one of 57 assistants nominated for this year’s Broyles Award.

The honor is given to college football’s top assistant coach. Stein is one of seven Pac-12 assistants to be nominated, joining Arizona’s Johnny Nansen, Arizona State’s Brian Ward, Oregon State’s Jim Michalczik, UCLA’s D’Anton Lynn, Utah’s Morgan Scalley, and Washington’s Ryan Grubb.

Semifinalists are expected to be announced later this month with a group of finalists to follow shortly thereafter. The winner of this year’s award will be unveiled at a ceremony on Dec. 5.

Stein is in his first season with Oregon as the program’s offensive coordinator. He moved to Eugene from UTSA this past offseason to replace Kenny Dillingham and has been a seamless fit.

Oregon leads the country in scoring offense and trails only LSU in terms of per-play offensive efficiency. The Ducks are nearly eight points per game better than they were in 2022 and almost a full yard better on a per-play basis.

As his team readies to face Oregon in Week 12, Dillingham recently said this year’s Oregon offense is the best the program has had in years.

“They’re probably the best Oregon offense since the Chip Kelly era, since the Mariota era,” Dillingham said. “This is the best Oregon’s been on offense in a long time. That’s including me there last year. They’re better than we were last year.”

Quarterback Bo Nix is playing like a Heisman Trophy candidate. The offensive line is in the running for the Joe Moore Award. And wideout Troy Franklin is on pace to set the program record for receiving yardage.
