Kenny Dillingham is a semifinalist for the Broyles Award.

Oregon’s offensive coordinator was named one of 15 semifinalists for the award given to the top assistant in college football. He’s one of three Pac-12 assistants on the list — joined by USC defensive line coach Shaun Nua and Washington offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb.

He is the third Oregon assistant coach ever to be named a semifinalist and the first since Andy Avalos in 2019. Gary Crowton (2005) is the only UO coach ever to be named a Broyles Award finalist.

In his first season at Oregon, Dillingham has turned a “churn it out” offense into one of the nation’s most prolific outfits and helped not only revitalize quarterback Bo Nix’s career but turn him into a legitimate threat to make the Heisman Trophy ceremony as a finalist for the most prestigious award in sports.

Oregon ranks sixth nationally in offensive efficiency (7.1 yards per play) and fourth nationally in scoring (40.2 points per game). The Ducks are one of only three teams in the country to score at least 40 points in a game eight times this season and they’re one of just six FBS teams to rank top 15 nationally in per-play rushing and passing efficiency. (The Ducks have the fifth-most efficient rushing attack at 5.7 yards a play.)

Nix is tied for the FBS lead with 40 total touchdowns. His 14 rushing touchdowns are tied for first among all Pac-12 players and lead all FBS quarterbacks. The fourth-year quarterback leads the nation with a 72.2% completion rate and is one of just three FBS throwers with at least 3,000 passing yards and 500 rushing yards. On Saturday, Dillingham and Nix devised a gameplan that helped the quarterback lead Oregon to a 20-17 win over then-No. 10 Utah on essentially one leg.

Other players including Troy Franklin, Bucky Irving, and Terrance Ferguson have enjoyed career years in Dillingham’s offense.

Finalists for the Broyles Award will be announced on Nov. 29. The winner will be unveiled on Dec. 6.
