The Golden Arm Award annually recognizes the top senior or upperclassman quarterback set to graduate with their class. Candidates are chosen based on player performance on and off the field. Nix is the seventh Duck ever to be named a finalist for the Golden Arm Award, joining Anthony Brown Jr. (2021), Justin Herbert (2019), Marcus Mariota (2014), Dennis Dixon (2007), Kellen Clemens (2005), and Joey Harrington (2001). Mariota became the first Duck to win the award in 2014.
The 2022 award winner will be presented the award on Wednesday, Dec. 7.
Nix was also announced on Tuesday as one of 21 semi-finalists for the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award. It is the 10th time an Oregon quarterback has been selected as a semi-finalist.
He was one of five Pac-12 quarterbacks on that list, which also included Washington’s Michael Penix Jr., Utah’s Cameron Rising, USC’s Caleb Williams, and UCLA’s Dorian Thompson-Robinson.
Finalists for the O’Brien Award will be announced on Tuesday, Nov. 29, with the 2022 winner receiving the award live on Dec. 8 as part of ESPN’s Home Depot College Football Awards show.
