A week after struggling mightily in Oregon’s loss to Washington, senior defensive back Bennett Williams rebounded with one of his best games of the year to help the Ducks topple then-No. 10 Utah, 20-17.

For that effort, Williams was named the Pac-12’s Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. It’s the first weekly performance honor of the season for Williams and the second of his career. It’s also the 13th weekly award for Oregon this season.

Williams led all Oregon defenders on Saturday with a season-high 14 tackles. He picked off Utah quarterback Cameron Rising twice, including a fourth-quarter interception that helped seal the deal on the Ducks’ win. It was his second career multi-interception game.

“Bennett Williams is a tough kid, man,” coach Dan Lanning said after Saturday’s win. “He’s a tough kid that has high expectations for himself and when his best was needed. He did a great job, always competes, and I was glad he was able to make some plays for this team.”

The Ducks return to the field on Saturday against Oregon State (12:30 p.m. PT, ABC).
