Oregon beat Arizona State in Tempe on Saturday, 49-13.

That win has triggered a clause in coach Dan Lanning’s contract that will extend the length of his deal by one year through January 2030 and boost his pay, according to The Oregonian’s James Crepea. The additional year will be worth $8.2 million in salary with an additional $1 million in deferred compensation.

Lanning can also earn performance bonuses this season if it keeps winning. A win over Oregon State next Friday would earn Lanning an additional $300,000 — $200,000 for the Ducks’ 11th win and $100,000 for qualifying for the Pac-12 Championship Game. Winning the conference title would net another $150k.

The buyout remains at a fixed $20 million for the lifetime of the deal.

Lanning inked an extension with Oregon ahead of his second year in charge of the program. As the Ducks have rolled to a 10-1 record this year, Lanning has become a popular name on the coaching carousel once again. He was mentioned for the Texas A&M job last week before emphatically shutting that conversation down.

“I think I’ve been really, really clear here since day one,” Lanning said. “Everything I want exists right here. I’m not going anywhere. There’s zero chance that I would be coaching somewhere else. I’ve got unfinished business here. There’s a lot that I want to accomplish here at Oregon. My No. 1 priority is being elite here at Oregon.”

Oregon faces Oregon State on Friday, Nov. 24, to close out the regular season. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. PT on FOX.
