Oregon earned a walk-off win over Xavier in its season-opener on Friday evening.

With 0 outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th, Owen Diodati drove in the game-winning run via a sac-fly. Rikuu Nishida scored the winning run.

That RBI secured a 3-2 opening-day win for the Ducks. It’s the 1st of a 4-game series that Oregon will play vs. Xavier this weekend.

Here’s the play:

Logan Mercado started this game and went 4 innings while only allowing 1 run and striking out 7. The Ducks’ bullpen did the rest, scattering a combined 1 hit across the remaining 5 innings.

Oregon is entering this season with high expectations. The Ducks are ranked No. 20 nationally and are expected to be one of the top teams in the Pac-12 this year.

Oregon will play Xavier twice on Saturday and 1 more time on Sunday.
