Oregon has its fifth consecutive top-15 appearance in the preseason AP Top 25.

The Ducks will begin the 2023 campaign at No. 15 in the media poll, released on Monday. It’s the program’s sixth straight overall appearance in the preseason poll, something they’ve found themselves in all but one season since 2008. Largely, the preseason poll comes down to brand recognition; and the Ducks have it.

But a preseason top-15 spot is also indicative of both the success Dan Lanning engineered in Year 1 at the helm of the program and the talent that returns for Year 2.

While offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham left to join Arizona State, quarterback Bo Nix returned after a fabulous debut season with the Ducks. He’s joined by standout skill talent that includes wideout Troy Franklin and running back Bucky Irving — two of the best at their respective positions in the Pac-12.

Oregon will play the league’s other four ranked teams — No. 6 USC, No. 10 Washington, No. 14 Utah, and No. 18 Oregon State — in what will be its final season in the Pac-12. It is looking like a potential meat grinder of a season in the Pac-12.
