Oregon still projected to make New Year's Six bowl after Washington loss
Oregon to the Rose Bowl? Still? The Action Network’s Brett McMurphy thinks so.
McMurphy updated his bowl projections Monday morning and even though the Ducks lost to Washington at home over the weekend, 37-34, he still has them making it to The Granddaddy of Them All.
According to McMurphy, the projected matchup for the Rose Bowl would pit Oregon against Michigan in just the sixth meeting between the two programs all-time.
My new bowl projections for @ActionNetworkHQ. Not guaranteed but UConn should make bowl cut. Others include: Clemson-Miss State (Gator), Notre Dame-Texas (Cheez-It), FSU-Utah (Holiday), Florida-USC (Vegas), Kansas-Maryland (Guaranteed Rate) https://t.co/gBmcuNi4tW pic.twitter.com/vbvcJtAgfU

Oregon has made the Rose Bowl four times since 2010, winning each of its last three appearances in the game.
Other Pac-12 bowl projections from McMurphy include…
- Washington to the Sun Bowl
- UCLA to the Alamo Bowl
- Utah to the Holiday Bowl
- Arizona to the Liberty Bowl
- Oregon State to the First Responder Bowl
- USC to the Las Vegas Bowl
The Huskies dashed Oregon’s dreams of the College Football Playoff, leading to some disappointment around Eugene, but a Rose Bowl appearance would still represent a standout first season for coach Dan Lanning.
The Ducks had won eight straight games prior to the loss to UW, including a 6-0 start to conference play. Because of that success, Oregon remains in an enviable position to get to the Pac-12 championship game. The Ducks still control their destiny in the hunt for a conference title. If it were to beat Utah at home on Saturday (7:30 p.m. PT, ESPN), Oregon would move within a game of securing its spot in the title.
Win out, and the Ducks go to Las Vegas to play for a spot in the Rose Bowl.
It would appear McMurphy thinks they’ll do exactly that.
