Nick Kelly of the Tuscaloosa News reports that Long is returning to the Crimson Tide in a defensive analyst role. Long is plenty familiar with UA as a former player and coach. He was a walk-on defender at Alabama from 2013-16. During that time, Dan Lanning was a grad assistant at Alabama for the 2015 season. After that season, Lanning landed an on-field coaching opportunity in Memphis.
After playing at Alabama, Long got into coaching as a student assistant in 2017 and graduate assistant from 2018-20. He was an Alabama analyst for the 2021 season before going to Oregon to be a graduate assistant.
