Oregon is expected to make a significant hire for its personnel department, according to a report.

Per 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz, the Ducks are set to hire UCLA’s Darren Uscher away from Westwood. Uscher would be joining Oregon in a personnel and recruiting role, per the report.

Uscher worked for Oregon during the 2023 season before departing for UCLA earlier this offseason. Uscher was appointed as the Bruins’ executive director of recruiting back in January by former UCLA head coach Chip Kelly. He previously worked for Oregon as a player personnel and scouting consultant.

From 2021-22, Uscher held a key personnel role at Auburn under former Tigers coach Bryan Harsin. He also worked under Harsin at Boise State.

For Oregon, this potential hire represents additional investment in the program’s personnel and recruiting departments. The Ducks routinely bring in highly-rated recruiting classes, and that has especially been the case during the Dan Lanning era. Oregon’s high school recruiting class for 2024 ranks No. 3 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

The Ducks have also brought in a star-studded class of transfers that includes for Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel and former Texas A&M wide receiver Evan Stewart. Oregon’s transfer class so far this offseason also ranks No. 3 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
