Oregon set to play in 2023 Emerald Coast Classic, per report
Oregon will be one of the four teams participating in next year’s Emerald Coast Classic.
CBS Sports Jon Rothstein reported on Friday that the Ducks, along with Ohio State, Alabama, and a third school still to be determined will comprise the field for the 2023 event. The annual in-season tournament, hosted at Raider Arena on the campus of Northwest Florida State College every year, began in 2014. This will be Oregon’s first time participating.

The 2022 field pits Iowa against Clemson and TCU against Cal for first-round action. Though dates haven’t been finalized for the 2023 tournament, it is traditionally held during Thanksgiving. The 2022 Emerald Coast Classic will take place on Nov. 25 and 26.
Oregon went 20-15 last season. Though a disappointing and at times frustrating campaign, it still marked the 12th straight season with at least 20 wins for coach Dana Altman and the Ducks. The 2023 campaign could feature a drastically different-looking Ducks squad, but if Altman is roaming the sidelines we can safely assume it’ll be a solid group.
As a head coach, dating back to his time at Creighton, Altman has won at least 20 games in 23 of the last 24 years.
