One Oregon running back is opting to hit the transfer portal after just one season in Eugene.

According to Hayes Fawcett with On3 Sports, Dante Dowdell has revealed the intention to test the transfer portal. Dowdell was a 4-star recruit in the 2023 recruiting class but did not see much action as a true freshman.

Listed at 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, the 247 Sports Composite rated Dowdell the No. 6 RB in the 2023 recruiting class out of Picayune, Mississippi. He rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries but could not crack the depth chart as a true freshman.

Bucky Irving and Jordan James led the rushing attack for the Ducks this season, and both of those players produced at least 800 yards of offense while averaging north of 6 yards per touch. Irving has declared for the NFL Draft, but James should provide a key piece for Oregon to build with heading into 2024.
