Oregon running back Dante Dowdell doing well after head-on car accident
Oregon running back Dante Dowdell was back at practice and doing well on Wednesday after he and another member of the 2023 signing class were involved in a head-on car accident Monday afternoon in Eugene.
According to The Oregonian’s James Crepea, Eugene police said Dowdell was taken to a local hospital but only treated for minor injuries. Freshman linebacker Jerry Mixon was also in the vehicle, but coach Dan Lanning said Wednesday when he met with reporters that both players were doing OK and were at practice with the team Wednesday evening.
Dowdell — a 4-star 2023 signee out of Picayune, Mississippi — shared a photo of the vehicle on his Instagram story after the accident along with the caption, “God was wit (sic.) me today.” On Twitter, he responded to another user saying, “I’m good.”
The 6-foot-2, 210-pound runner is looking to crack the rotation for the Ducks this fall. Oregon returns veterans Bucky Irving and Noah Whittington, as well as sophomore Jordan James. The 2023 class also saw Washington native Jayden Limar sign with the program.
