Oregon reportedly targeting Colorado DB coach, longtime Pac-12 assistant
Another hire for Dan Lanning’s Oregon staff is expected to come shortly.
According to a report from The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman—one that was later confirmed by multiple local Ducks outlets—Lanning is targeting Colorado cornerbacks coach Demetrice Martin.

Martin has coached at Colorado for the last two years, joining the staff ahead of the 2020 football season. Prior to coaching at Colorado, Martin served as the cornerback’s coach at Arizona (2018-19) and as the defensive backs coach at UCLA before that (2012-17). Martin got his first Power Five gig as Washington’s defensive backs coach from 2009-11. He was also on Pete Carroll’s USC staff as a grad assistant from 2006-07.
A Pasadena, California, native, the 48-year-old is also considered a well-respected recruiter, particularly on the West Coast. He landed a pair of 5-star players at UCLA and has landed double-digit recruits from inside the 247 Composite Top 200.
It would appear Lanning is assembling a strong staff in Eugene.
