With Washington coming to town for a top-25 matchup, Oregon is getting another opportunity to showcase its program in front of an elite crop of recruits. According to multiple reports, among those expected to be in attendance for Saturday’s game against the Huskies is Katy (Texas) Paetow 5-star defensive lineman David Hicks.

The 6-foot-4, 270-pound defender is verbally committed to Texas A&M, and has been since late September. He chose the Aggies in an announcement on ESPN from a group of finalists that included Oregon, Miami, Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Michigan State alongside A&M.

This will be Hicks’ third trip to Eugene. He took an official visit in June.

Hicks ranks as the ninth-best overall recruit in the 2023 class, according to the industry-generated 247 Composite. He’s the No. 1 defensive lineman and the top-ranked prospect from the state of Texas.

According to 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong, Hicks will be joined by a number of current Oregon commits and a group long on promising defensive linemen.

Defensive lineman A’mauri Washington will be taking his official. Teitum Tuioti and My’Keil Gardner will also be in attendance. The Ducks are putting together a potentially special group defensive linemen in this 2023 class — which currently ranks 12th nationally. The three future Ducks will be joined by Vicksburg (Miss.) High defensive lineman Caleb Bryant — a former Utah commit who left the class less than two weeks after securing an offer from the Ducks.

Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. PT on FOX, so the list of visitors should be robust by gametime.
