Oregon head coach Dan Lanning has reportedly agreed to a contract extension after one year with the program.

Longtime Oregon-based columnist John Canzano reported the news on Tuesday, saying that Lanning’s deal has been extended one year through the 2028 football season. It is still pending approval from the UO Board of Trustees.

He’s also expected to be paid among the top 20 coaches nationally in terms of salary.

Lanning and the Ducks initially agreed to a six-year, $29.1 million contract back in December of 2021. The former Georgia defensive coordinator made $4.6 million last year and is set to make $4.7 million this year.

The Ducks went 10-3 in Lanning’s first year in charge. They narrowly missed out on a berth in the Pac-12 Championship Game, finishing in a three-way tie for second place with a 7-2 league record.

Quarterback Bo Nix returns with a slew of playmakers looking to build on last year’s success. The Ducks lost two of their last three regular-season games and will hope to close stronger in 2023.
