As the 2023 cycle has unfolded and the quarterback class has begun to sort itself out, Oregon has zeroed in on Detroit (Mich.) King quarterback Dante Moore.

The Ducks are high on the 5-star’s list of suitors, and his status only continues to rise. Moore is participating in the Elite 11 Finals this week and, after a strong showing on Day 1, is drawing rave reviews from the scouts in attendance.

The folks at 247Sports labeled him the top quarterback after the first day, with this to say on his play:

Moore just edged out Jackson Arnold as our top signal caller of the day. We thought Moore was pretty close to flawless and combines high-level arm strength with one of the quickest releases in the camp. He was accurate to all three levels of the field, is comfortable throwing in or out of the pocket and something we said a lot after seeing him in Las Vegas at the OT7, the ball just comes out of his hand different than most other quarterbacks. Moore is the top un-committed quarterback in this year’s class with Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon and Texas A&M on his short list.

Bud Elliot continued the praise:

During this cycle, Oregon has been in on 5-star Long Beach Poly QB Nico Iamaleava and 4-star Pittsburg QB Jaden Rashada at different times. The former committed to Tennessee with the latter recently joining the Miami class.

As Moore continues to impress during the summer before his senior season, it’s possible Oregon could land the best of the bunch.

He was named the MaxPreps Michigan High School Football Player of the Year as a junior after throwing for 3,044 yards and 40 touchdowns while leading King to a Division III state title.
