Bo Nix appears likely to give it a go for Oregon against Utah.

The first-year Duck quarterback went into Saturday night’s game as a game-time decision after injuring his ankle in last Saturday’s 37-34 loss to Washington. There was concern Oregon would need to face the 10th-ranked Utes without their Heisman-hopeful quarterback, but according to multiple reports from the field, Nix went through pregame warmups with the team, went into the locker room, and then emerged in full pads.

Coach Dan Lanning was guarded this week when discussing the QB spot. He said on his weekly in-house radio hit that Nix was “preparing himself to go,” but that the staff had confidence in Thompson if it has to move to QB2.

Thompson has only thrown 20 passes this season, completing 11 while throwing two interceptions with no touchdowns. Nix beat him out for the lead job in the offseason. Thompson is one of the highest-rated prospects to sign with Oregon in the recruiting service era.

The former Auburn Tiger leads the nation with a 72.8% completion percentage and ranks third nationally in Total QBR. He has 39 total touchdowns in 10 games.

According to The Oregonian’s James Crepea, wideout Chase Cota, center Alex Forsyth, and guard Ryan Walk were all in full pads in pregame as well.

Kickoff is set for 7:40 p.m. PT on ESPN.
