Oregon earned a verbal commitment from a second defensive back in as many days on Thursday with the announcement from 3-star cornerback Collin Gill that he’ll begin his collegiate career with the Ducks.

The D.C. native and St. John’s standout chose the Ducks over a group of finalists that also included Washington, Michigan, and Maryland. He’s a 6-foot, 200-pound corner who has seen his recruitment really blow up this spring and summer. The Oregon offer came just a few weeks ago. Coach Demetrice Martin strikes again.

Gill rates as a 3-star in the industry-generated 247 Composite as well as the 104th-ranked corner in the 2023 class. Expect some kind of a ratings bump moving forward after showing out during the spring and summer months. He has more than a dozen Power Five offers, including from schools in each of the P5 leagues.

He gives Oregon its eighth known commitment for the 2023 class, four of which have come from defensive backs. The Ducks have pledges from 4-star corner Cole Martin, as well as from Kodi Decambra and Tyler Turner.
