Oregon picks off Michael Penix Jr., fails to score late in wild close to first half
Oregon and Washington delivered on all the hype in the first half Saturday in Seattle. The game saw four early lead changes before UW got a “stop” and held Oregon to a field goal in take a late 22-18 lead.
UW took over at the 35 with 2:04 to play before the break. Oregon gave the Huskies some extra room after sending the kickoff out of bounds, but it ultimately didn’t matter.
Facing a fourth-and-1 from its own 44-yard-line, Washington elected to throw for the first down. Jack Westover brought the pass in, but it was close.

The Ducks took over just 1 yard shy of midfield, with 55 seconds on the clock, and a chance to double up. Washington received the ball to begin the game. Oregon would get it to open the second half. Trailing by four, Oregon had a chance to completely flip the game.
Instead, it was turned away on fourth-and-goal from the UW 3.

On third-and-goal, Oregon quarterback Bo Nix had Traeshon Holden on a play that looked like it might produce a score. The pass was low and behind Holden, and he couldn’t bring it in.
Rather than kick a field goal to move within a point, Oregon went for the lead and the ball was batted away.
The two top-10 teams combined for 491 yards of offense and 40 points in the first half.
