Oregon is a 17-point favorite over USC in Week 11.

And that line from Circa Sports was posted before USC elected to dismiss defensive coordinator Alex Grinch on Sunday. Watch how that number moves throughout the week. There’s a school of thought that thinks USC defenders, finally free from what is a complex Grinch scheme, might play better than they’ve shown in recent weeks.

But that’s just a theory. The reality of the situation is USC has surrendered more than 40 points to five of the last six teams it has played. The only team that didn’t break 40 was Utah, which scored 34 in a win at the L.A. Coliseum.

And Oregon beat that Utah team in Salt Lake City 35-6 a week later.

The Ducks beat Cal on Saturday, 63-19. USC gave up 49 to the Bears the week prior.

No. 6 Oregon will be looking for a statement win to boost its College Football Playoff résumé. Though the Trojans fell out of the AP Top 25 on Sunday, the program still carries a certain weight and a win — however large — should benefit the Ducks.

The over/under for the game was set at 73.5.

Oregon is 8-1 against the spread this season. The under has hit in five of the Ducks’ nine games.

USC is 2-8 against the spread, with the over hitting nine times.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. PT on FOX.
