Oregon named a finalist for blue-chip 2023 offensive tackle from Utah
One of the top offensive tackle prospects in the 2023 class has narrowed his list of suitors to four finalists.
Provo (Utah) Timpview offensive lineman Spencer Fano announced his final four on Sunday. He has the Oregon Ducks in a group that includes the hometown BYU Cougars — who Oregon just beat on Sept. 17 at home — as well as Utah and Michigan.
I am forever grateful to all the schools and coaches that have given me an opportunity to fulfill my dream through this process.

Fano is scheduled to take an official visit to Oregon this upcoming weekend. He’ll be on hand for the Ducks’ game against Stanford, which is set to kick off at 8 p.m. PT under the lights in Autzen Stadium. It’ll be a return trip as well; he took an unofficial to see the Ducks back in May.
Fano visited Utah on June 24 and has a third official visit scheduled to Michigan on Oct. 29.
The 6-foot-5, 270-pound lineman rates as a 4-star in the industry-generated 247 Composite. He’s the second-ranked recruit from the state of Utah, the 14th-ranked prospect at his position, and the 133rd overall recruit in the 2023 class. Fano has been selected to participate in the All-American Bowl and the Polynesian Bowl. 247Sports’ Cooper Petagna had this to say on his game:
Flashes excellent athleticism at the right tackle position. Displays good knee bend and hip flexibility in and out of stance. Shows the ability to explode in the run and pass set. Possesses quiet feet. Plays with outstanding balance and body control. Can anchor in pass protection and move defenders off the line of scrimmage in the run game. Appears to have good play strength. Can play in space and at the second level while displaying excellent pull and trap ability. Value is in his ability as a protector, has a very controlled and patient game at the tackle position. Will need to continue to grow and develop physically into his frame but possesses the prototypical athletic traits that you look for in the left tackle position. Will more than likely need a year to two years to develop in the weight room but projects to a potential all-conference starter at a Power Five program at the next level.
The Ducks have 18 known commitments so far for the 2023 class. Fano would be the first offensive lineman.
