Oregon moves up in AP Top 25 following Week 5 demolition of Stanford
Oregon is ranked No. 8 in the latest AP Top 25, released Sunday.
The Ducks blasted Stanford on Saturday, 42-6, to move to 5-0 on the season. It was the fourth time in five games that Oregon cleared 40 points, and it was also the fourth time in five games that Oregon won by at least 30 points.
A road win at Texas Tech is looking a little less impressive given the Red Raiders’ 2-3 start, but it’s still hard to argue with the résumé the Ducks have put together through five games. They’re 5-0 for the first time since 2013.
And with Washington holding inside the AP Top 10 as well, it sets up a historic showdown with the Huskies in Seattle on Oct. 14.
With both teams ranked among the 10 best in the country, it’ll mark the first modern meeting between the two programs in which both enter as AP Top 10 teams. That’s a fitting backdrop for a game that figures to carry Pac-12 title game and College Football playoff implications.
Oregon is joined in this week’s poll by No. 7 Washington, No. 9 USC, No. 13 Washington State, No. 15 Oregon State, and No. 18 Utah.
