Oregon loses two more defenders to the transfer portal
Oregon is up to three transfer portal departures on Wednesday now.
Following earlier reports that second-year linebacker Anthony Jones was entering the portal, third-year cornerback Avante Dickerson and fellow 2022 classmate Harrison Taggart announced they were also seeking a transfer. Both are former 4-star recruits, and they bring Oregon’s outgoing transfer count up to seven so far this spring.

Dickerson was a top-150 recruit in the 2021 class. He chose the Ducks from more than 20 Power Five offers and played right away as a freshman. In 2021, Dickerson saw action in 12 games, recording five tackles.
During the 2022 campaign, playing time was much harder to come by. Dickerson played in just one game.
His departure is the latest from a 2021 class that has been incredibly boom or bust for the Ducks. Troy Franklin and Jeffrey Bassa signed with the Ducks during the 2021 cycle — two players expected to once again play significant roles in 2023. But Dickerson is also the 16th member of the 23-man class to leave the program.
Franklin, Bassa, Ty Thompson, Jackson Powers-Johnson, Terrance Ferguson, Daymon David, and Darren Barkins are the only 2021 signees left on the 2023 roster.

Taggart played appeared in only three games and played a total of nine defensive snaps as a true freshman last season. He’s the fourth known member of the 2022 class to enter the transfer portal.
