Oregon basketball will open the 2023-24 season against Georgia according to a release from Georgia athletics.

This was first reported in early June by CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein, but is now official by both schools. Georgia head coach Mike White released a statement on the opening matchup in a release Wednesday.

“The start of the season is obviously always exciting, but it’s even more so considering we’ll be playing on a national stage in a premier event like the Hall of Fame Series in Las Vegas,” White said. “We’re looking forward to the challenge of representing the SEC against Oregon, which traditionally is one of the Pac-12’s top programs year in and year out.”

Oregon recently added Georgia transfer Kario Oquendo, giving this game an early storyline for either side.

The Ducks are playing a tough non-conference schedule this upcoming season, with matchups against Michigan, Oregon State and Syracuse. Oregon will also take part in the Emerald Coast Classic, facing off against Santa Clara and one of Alabama or Ohio State.
