Oregon’s first full recruiting cycle with Dan Lanning at the helm of the program is going smoothly as the season approaches, and on Monday, the Ducks added another to the group.

Kenyon Sadiq, a 4-star athlete from Idaho Falls (Idaho) Skyline Senior, announced his commitment to the Ducks on Monday. The announcement caught more than a few off-guard. In late July, Sadiq named a final three with Iowa State, Michigan, and Washington. The Ducks were not included. And yet it was the Ducks celebrating on Monday.

As a junior last fall, the 6-foot-3, 220-pound Sadiq caught 78 passes for 1,162 yards and 19 touchdowns, ran for two scores, and brought in a pair of interceptions on defense. He also plays basketball and posted an 11.04 100-meter track time earlier this year. It sounds like he’ll be focusing on the offensive side of the football in Eugene, telling 247Sports’ Brandon Huffman that the opportunity to “be developed into a dominant tight end” was a key factor in his decision.

He rates as a 4-star in the industry-generated 247 Composite and the No. 308 overall recruit in the 2023 class. He’s the 20th-ranked athlete and the top prospect from the state of Idaho. He’s a top-150 prospect in the Top247—247Sports’ own independent ranking.

Oregon got an unofficial visit from the dynamic athlete back in April, but it was the Cyclones, Wolverines, and Huskies who hosted him for official visits.

Lanning and his staff are putting together an impressive 2023 class, which now features 15 known commits and ranks 14th nationally.
