Oregon added a new specialist on Wednesday with the commitment of 2023 kicker Grant Meadors.

The Bakersfield (Calif.) Liberty kicker announced his commitment to Oregon on social media. According to Chris Sailer Kicking, he’s the top kicker in the class. Meadors chose the Ducks over a scholarship offer from Army and a preferred walk-on spot from Oregon State.

Meadors is the No. 1 kicker in the class, according to industry-leader ChrisSailerKicking.com. He’s a 6-star recruit by the service, described as an “FBS Power 5 Freshman Year Starter, Scholarship Pick.”

His scouting report from Sailer Kicking:

“Grant is a phenomenal high school kicking prospect. He is a tremendous athlete with one of the strongest legs in America. Grant does an excellent job on field goals. He hits a big-time college-level ball off the ground. Grant gets the ball up well and easily has 55+ yard range. His kickoffs are strong. Grant drives the ball deep into the end zone with 4.0+ hang time. Also a more than capable punter. Grant is a big time competitor who thrives under pressure. He is kicking with great confidence. Grant has the tools to step on the field as a freshman and be an All-Conference type kicker. He is a fine young man with a great attitude and work ethic. One of the hardest workers out there.”

When Meadors gets on campus, he figures to compete with Camden Lewis and Andrew Boyle for kicking responsibilities next season. Lewis is a perfect 7-for-7 on his field goals this season and 31-for-31 on extra points. Boyle has been the primary handler of kickoffs, with 24 touchbacks on 34 attempts.

Meadors’ verbal pledge gives the Ducks their 20th known commitment for the 2023 class. You can see some clips of his from a recent Sailer Kicking camp below:
