Oregon dropped to No. 9 in the latest AP Top 25 poll, released on Sunday.

The Ducks (5-1, 2-1 Pac-12) suffered their first loss of the season in Seattle against the Huskies on Saturday. Bo Nix completed 33 of his 44 pass attempts for 337 yards and two touchdowns, Bucky Irving ran for 127 yards and a touchdown, but repeated fourth-down misfires set the stage for a 36-33 loss.

After the game, Nix and coach Dan Lanning remained optimistic about the season ahead for the Ducks. A three-point road loss to a team that looks like a title contender is hardly cause for concern — especially when Oregon had a field goal try that would have forced overtime and instead just missed at the very end.

“This group is going to be able to write its own story, write its own journey,” Nix said.

And that was certainly reflected in the rankings. Oregon dropped just one spot and held onto its place inside the Top 10. It remains the second-highest-ranked Pac-12 squad behind Washington.

The Huskies climbed to No. 5 in the poll. Other Pac-12 teams in the ranking include No. 12 Oregon State, No. 14 Utah, No. 18 USC, and No. 25 UCLA.

Oregon hosts Washington State on Saturday.
