It’s a wonderful coup for Lanning in that Iuli was initially an Oregon commit during the summer, but left the class after Mario Cristobal left for Miami. That the other two hats sitting on the table belonged to Cristobal’s new program and the team down south that Lanning has now beaten twice in the last three days for a blue-chip West Coast prospect will have many in Eugene celebrating.
At 6-foot-5, 315-pounds, Iuli ranks as the No. 10 interior offensive lineman nationally and the No. 3 prospect in the 2022 class from the state of Washington, per the 247 Composite. His status as a 4-star prospect gives Oregon its third blue-chip commitment in the last three days.
Oakland (Tenn.) running back Jordan James joined the class on Wednesday as well. On Monday, Lincoln (Calif.) High cornerback Jhalil Florence picked the Ducks over the Trojans. Oregon also landed Emar’rion Winston on Wednesday, a 3-star edge rusher from Portland.
With their additions, the Ducks’ class climbed into the top-25 for 247’s team rankings. Lanning, on an abbreviated timeline and in his first cycle with the program, has put together the Pac-12’s third-best class.
