DJ Johnson, star Oregon edge rusher and Ducks' sacks leader, announces bowl game and 2023 season plans
DJ Johnson led the Oregon Ducks with 6 sacks during the 2022 season. No other Duck defender had more than 2.5 sacks.
But, as Oregon prepares to play in the Holiday Bowl against North Carolina on Wednesday, Dec. 28, it will have to replace Johnson pass-rushing prowess.
On Thursday, Johnson took to Twitter to reveal that he was entering his name in the 2023 NFL Draft:
Thank you to Oregon and everyone who's helped me get to where I am today. I'll be entering my name into the NFL Draft. Truly Blessed for the opportunities coming 🙏🏾 pic.twitter.com/loHzJULNSC

Johnson finished the 2022 season with 39 total tackles (8.5 for a loss), 6 sacks, 2 pass breakups and a fumble recovery.
Where he ends up hearing his name called in the draft in April remains to be seen, but Pac-12 foes will be glad not to see him rushing off the edge in 2023.
Oregon’s Holiday Bowl appearance against North Carolina on Dec. 28 will kick off at 8 p.m. Eastern time and can be seen on FOX.
