Dante Moore is one of the most talented high school football players in the country. He’s 247Sports’ No. 2 player in the entire 2023 class. And he just led his team to a second consecutive state title over Thanksgiving.

As the Early Signing Period draws near, there has been a significant amount of noise surrounding Moore’s recruitment. He has been committed to Oregon since July. Michigan State is pressing hard to try and change that. And with Kenny Dillingham’s departure to take the head coaching job at Arizona State, there was some fear Moore would leave the Ducks’ class.

It’s still recruiting, so anything can happen between now and when he signs the dotted line on his NLI, but Oregon fans got tremendous news on Thursday from 247Sports’ Director of Recruiting, Steve Wiltfong.

According to Wiltfong — as plugged-in as any in the industry — Moore is “not wavering in his decision” even with Dillingham no longer in Eugene.

“I think being honest with Dante has been crucial,” King head coach Ty Spencer told Wiltfong. “Like Dillingham called Dante days ahead, even before he had the interview and before it was announced saying I’m probably going to take this position. I think Dante respected it because Dante was always open and honest with them.

“I think that made him feel good about it and he believes in Coach Lanning. He thinks the program is up. Most of those kids, most of that recruiting class, they have that group text and most of them they said they’re going to stick with it and he wants to be with that class.”

This season, Moore threw for 2,392 yards and 32 touchdowns against just three interceptions. He added another 235 yards rushing and five scores. He finished his high school career with a 40-11 record across four seasons, during which he completed 70% of his passes, threw for 135 touchdowns, and played in three state title games.

Moore will play in the All-American Bowl in San Antonio on Jan. 7 and, according to Wiltfong, enroll early at Oregon shortly thereafter.
