Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks clinched a spot in the Pac-12 Championship Game with a 31-7 win over Oregon State on Friday night.

The victory not only secured Oregon’s spot in the title game, it marked just the fourth time in program history that Oregon has reached 11 wins during the regular season. The Ducks also capped off the program’s 11th unbeaten season at home.

Lanning was asked after the game if he’ll take a moment to celebrate the achievements thus far.

“You know it’s hard to celebrate in this profession when you’re always focused on what’s next. I expected us to be here,” he responded. “I don’t really know what everyone else thought, but I expected us to be in this position because I know what our team’s capable of.

“We still have some unfinished business. We want to go out there and compete and put our best foot forward. Excited about what’s next, but we’re going there for an opportunity to play in a big-time game and perform our best.”

Lanning says Oregon is playing its best ball of the season at the end.

The Ducks led wire-to-wire. A year after failing to close things out against Oregon State, the Ducks made a point to play a four-quarter game. They took a 21-7 lead into the locker room at halftime and then blanked the Beavs in the second half.

“It’s fun for your team to reach your expectations and play to a level that you think they can play, and I thought our team did that tonight,” Lanning said. “We’re certainly excited to be representing the Pac-12 in this conference championship game, that’s going to be a lot of fun for us, but we want to go and perform a certain way as well.”
