Dan Lanning is proud of the way his offensive line has performed so far this season. That unit is one of the key reasons why the Ducks are 7-1 and looking at a potential shot to play in the Pac-12 title game and College Football Playoff.

During his Wednesday press conference, Lanning said the offensive line group has started being referred to as “the Law Firm.” The head coach went on to break down how that unit has been utilizing three different pieces of the coaching staff to get the group playing at its best.

“We call it the ‘Law Firm,’ right? We’ve got (Offensive line) Coach (A’lique) Terry — Yeah, the ‘Law Firm!’ (Offensive GA) Cutter (Leftwich) does a phenomenal job, he’s a great young coach. We have some experience in that room with coach (Offensive analyst Mike) Cavanaugh, he brings phenomenal juice,” Lanning explained. “He’s our toughness coach for this team, and then coach Terry I think is likable, learnable and our guys have really taken to his approach.

“The details those guys emphasize, the way that group plays as a cohesive unit, I think it really comes from those three guys. They’ve done a great job this year, excited to see what they continue to do.”

Asked where the name comes from, Lanning admitted he did not have any clue about the origin. However, he thinks it fits perfectly for how the group operates.

“I honestly have no idea who came up with the Law Firm, but it fits,” said Lanning.

Playing behind that elite o-line, star QB Bo Nix has been dominant with a 78% completion percentage and 21 touchdowns to just 1 interception. The ground game is also explosive with Bucky Irving leading the charge with 7.2 yards per carry and the Ducks as a whole averaging 6.6 yards per carry this season.

Oregon is currently third in the country for scoring at 45.5 points per game, and the offensive line has been fantastic throughout. We’ll see if that unit can keep it up down the stretch of November.
