Christian Gonzalez may have only spent one season at Oregon, but believes he is ready to be the No. 1 CB in the 2023 NFL Draft. Gonzalez spoke with NFL Network’s Taylor Bisciotti on Tuesday about what makes the Oregon defender stand out.

Gonzalez started his college career with Colorado, signing with the Buffaloes from the 2020 class. Gonzalez was a former 4-star S per the 247Sports Composite. After transferring to Eugene for the 2022 season, Gonzalez feels ready to be the best corner in this year’s draft.

“I believe I am. I think with my mix of speed, height, and weight,” said Gonzalez. “Then versatility, being able to move inside and outside. I can do it all.”

Gonzalez played in all 12 games for the Ducks this season. He recorded 50 total tackles, 1 tackle for loss, and a career-high 4 interceptions. Gonzalez credited his position coach Demetrice Martin for his development. Martin coached Gonzalez at Colorado and started coaching at Oregon in 2022.

“I think it did a lot. Coming here with my position coach, he did a great job in three years,” said Gonzalez. “Coming here and being on the national stage, playing with my teammates, and play loose and free. It just came together and we had a great year.”

Oregon’s passing defense allowed 260.6 yards passing per game in 2022. The Ducks finished the year at 10-3 after beating North Carolina 28-27 in the Holiday Bowl.
