Christian Gonzalez is looking to give the Ducks four consecutive years with a first-round NFL Draft pick. Barring something unforeseen at the NFL Scouting Combine, the former Oregon corner feels like a sure bet to go among the first 31 picks.

And the latest first-round mock from CBS Sports had Gonzalez as the first Pac-12 player picked. CBS has Gonzalez going No. 12 overall to the Houston Texas, with this to say on the pick:

A year after drafting Derek Stingley Jr. in the top five, Houston picks up Christian Gonzalez to play opposite him. Ideally, the Texans would take a bigger position of need, but the board did not fall in that way.

The latest CBS mock has four quarterbacks going in the top 10. Gonzalez is the No. 2 corner off the board, behind Illinois’ Devon Witherspoon.

Based on how he tests at the Combine later this month, Gonzalez could be viewed as one of the top overall talents in the class.

ESPN’s Matt Miller recently wrote that Gonzalez is “expected to test really well at the combine” and that “one area scout predicting times in the 4.3-second range in the 40-yard dash.”

That combined with his production in his lone season at Oregon — four interceptions, seven pass breakups, a blocked kick — and his size would make for a pretty enticing pick early in the first.

The 2023 NFL Scouting Combine will take place in Indianapolis from Feb. 28 through March 6. Gonzalez will be one of six Oregon players in attendance. The NFL Draft begins on April 27.
