Bo Nix had a full house package lined up for Oregon on a second-and-goal.

The personnel just shifted, with an H-back lined up to his left and Bucky Irving lined up just outside the H-back. Irving then cleared out of the backfield and, at the snap, it looked like a quarterback power play for Nix to try and run in for six. When he was met with a would-be Colorado tackler, Nix stopped and flipped a pass to the boundary, where he had Casey Kelly waiting for the touchdown.

The Ducks tried to go for two and failed, but the score still put them up 13-0 on the 19th-ranked Buffaloes in the first quarter.

Nix hit each of his first 11 passes for Oregon in the game. On Oregon’s opening two drives, the offense covered 137 yards in 22 plays, averaging 6.2 a play.

They also forced a three-and-out on Colorado’s first possession.

In the first quarter, Nix became just the third active FBS quarterback with 1,000 career completions. The Ducks have to like their chances to beat the Buffs at home, but if Nix is going to be wheeling and dealing, the game could get out of hand quickly.

The Ducks and Buffs are facing off over on ABC.
