Bo Nix connects with Troy Franklin for first Oregon touchdown of 2023
Bo Nix missed his first pass of Oregon’s opener Saturday afternoon against Portland State.
He then hit his next five to calmly and precisely take Oregon down the field for its first touchdown of the 2023 season. Nix hit Tex Johnson for 3 yards, then he hit Troy Franklin for 19 yards, then Bucky Irving for 3, then Patrick Herbert for 23, and then he found Franklin again for a 13-yard touchdown.
Nix threw 29 scores a year ago, nine of which went to Franklin.
The duo is off to a strong start once again.

Nix is working with a new offensive coordinator this season following the departure of Kenny Dillingham.
The two met at Auburn initially and then when Dillingham landed at Oregon as Dan Lanning’s first offensive play-caller, Nix made his way to Eugene and enjoyed the best year of his career. But Dillingham left this offseason to take the head coaching job at Arizona State and Lanning hired Will Stein from UTSA.
Much was made about how Stein and Nix would work together. Nix has legit Heisman buzz in 2023. And Oregon has the talent to make a run at the College Football Playoff if Nix can recreate the magic from last season.
The billboards, for now, can stay right where they are.
