Akili Smith Jr. could have Oregon fans cheering for a familiar name in the future.

Smith, the son of former Oregon great Akili Smith, has been offered a scholarship by the Ducks. The younger Smith is a quarterback prospect in the 2025 recruiting class.

Smith is listed at 6-5, 200 pounds. He does not yet have a star rating from On3 or 247Sports. Arizona and Cal are among the other programs to have extended scholarship offers in the early stages of Smith’s recruitment.

Smith Sr. was Pac-10 Co-Offensive Player of the Year in 1998. After his Oregon career, Smith was the No. 3 overall selection in the 1999 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. Smith played professional football in the NFL and CFL until 2007.
