Adrian Klemm is headed back to the NFL, per a report.

According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Klemm has agreed to become the next offensive line coach for the New England Patriots. He spent 1 season with the Ducks as their OL coach and associate head coach.

This report is a surprise given Oregon coach Dan Lanning’s comments last week. Lanning told reporters that he didn’t expect any changes with regards to Klemm’s status with the program.

“I don’t anticipate any changes as of right now,” Lanning said last week. “Obviously, Adrian is a phenomenal coach, but not currently anticipating any changes there.”

Klemm is a big loss for the Ducks. Oregon’s offensive line was a strength during the 2022 season and the Ducks brought in a highly-touted group of offensive lineman in the class of 2023. The class includes 5 new linemen, including 2 who have already enrolled at Oregon.

Klemm returns to the NFL, where he served as an assistant for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2019-21. He was the Steelers’ OL coach in 2021 and their assistant OL coach from 2019-20.
