College football analyst R.J. Young highlighted yet another promising player among Coach Prime’s burgeoning crew at Colorado.

Young tabbed Buffaloes running back Dylan Edwards as the top true freshman in all of college football. Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders recruited Edwards to Boulder, Colorado, as a 4-star recruit.

Edwards delivered in the first 2 weeks of the season with 4 touchdowns amid 17.9 yards per reception and 5.3 yards per rushing attempt. He already busted out big plays along the way with a 75-reception and a 35-run thus far.

“Prime trusts a true freshman tailback to carry the load against Texas Christian and Nebraska,” Young said. “He’s getting them big plays [and] being explosive. He fumbled the football against Texas Christian [and] made up for it in the same game.”

“And he is the lead back in a backfield that frankly can go for it deep if that’s what they want to do,” Young added. “Now, what’s even more telling is you feel so good, you feel so talented with a guy like Dylan Edwards that you can look at Alton McCaskill IV and slowly bring him back.”

McCaskill transferred to Colorado from Houston, but he remains out amid no action this season. He has been recovering from an ACL injury in 2022.
