Matt Leinart is undeterred by Colorado’s recent struggles in conference play. The former USC quarterback and current FOX college football analyst still thinks that Deion Sanders can get the Buffaloes to be College Football Playoff contenders.

“It’s going to take a couple of years, but if he sticks around long enough, there is no doubt he can turn Colorado into a real player,” Leinart said. “He turned the program around because he has made Colorado relevant and made them a story. I know they have struggled recently, but they have won four games and they only won one game last year.”

It has been a tale of two seasons for the Colorado Buffaloes. The season got off to a magical 3-0 start as they knocked off TCU, Nebraska and Colorado State. However, things have taken a bad turn recently, as the Buffaloes have lost four of their last five games.

They are coming off a 28-16 loss to the UCLA Bruins last Saturday at the Rose Bowl. The offensive line especially struggled, as Shedeur Sanders was pressured all day and sacked seven times.

The Buffaloes will be in action on Saturday against another top Pac-12 team, as they are hosting No. 16 Oregon State. The game will be on ESPN and kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT.
