Colorado football added a highly-touted transfer commitment out of Houston Tuesday, earning a pledge from former Cougar Alton McCaskill.

McCaskill missed all of 2022 with a knee injury, but was a force his freshman year at Houston. By the time fall rolls around, McCaskill will have had 17 months between his ACL tear and should be good to go by the start of the season.

And that’s a good thing for the Buffs, who already earned a commitment from former Kentucky RB Kavosiey Smoke earlier this offseason. That fact, alongside the nice progression of Anthony Hankerson, means Colorado’s RB room is stacked heading into next season.

McCaskill committed to Colorado following an official visit this week.

Here’s what all the fuss is about. McCaskill rushed for an incredible 1,074 yards as a true freshman, accounting for 18 touchdowns through the air and on the ground. It’s not against the more stout competition, but that’s a huge statline for a freshman RB. Now, with 3 seasons of eligibility remaining, McCaskill could turn into a star in Boulder.

Football season in inching closer and closer, Buffs fans.
