Deion Sanders is trying to bring a fresh mentality as Colorado’s new head coach. That’s why the recent scuffle during practice was a prime teaching example for Coach Prime.

The new sheriff in town didn’t hold back as he lit into his team for their lack of camaraderie in the heat of the moment.

“I see 2 of y’all walking off over there,” Sanders said. “And you’ve got a kid teammate fighting. Where they do that at? Where they do that at? If one fighting, we’re all fighting, do you understand that? I don’t want to see y’all walking off when somebody’s fighting. Never again!”

ESPN’s First Take crew weighed in and agreed with Sanders’ approach towards the situation.

Harry Douglas fondly reflects on the moments during his career when his teammates defended him. Douglas notes that the unity from when a team comes together in hard times is what creates resolve.

“Knowing that my teammates had my back 1,000 percent meant the world to me. These are guys that are my brothers for life” Douglas said. “…You’ve got to have the mindset that ‘I’m going to protect my guy no matter what.'”

Dan Orlovsky believes establishing togetherness now will pay dividends during the season for Colorado.

“He’s resetting the culture there. This is what makes football different than every other sport, respectfully,” Orlovsky said. “It’s not cliche. It’s a way of life in the eyes of many football players. I love this from Deion.”
