Deion Sanders shares how he decided to take the Colorado job
Deion Sanders quickly responded to a question from Joel Klatt of FOX Sports about taking the Colorado job with a simply reaction: “Why not?” Then Sanders went into an explanation about the Colorado athletics director, Rick George.
“He laid something in front of me and I saw candidly a need,” Sanders said. “I’m a need to be needed type person, I’m sorry, I’m gonna say it. You show me a need, I got you. … There was a tremendous need, a tremendous want, a tremendous desire of excellence. I love that challenge. That’s what wakes me up in the morning, that’s what gets me going. That’s what makes me start moving, bouncing.”
Sanders then recalled his own NFL career, and noted how he went from Atlanta to San Francisco and then Dallas.
“It was the challenge, man, and I thrive on that type of stuff and I love it,” Sanders said. “He gave me this opportunity and I took it and ran with it.”
