Deion Sanders is coming to Boulder.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported Friday night the Jackson State head coach was “preparing” to accept the Colorado offer he has already publicly acknowledged was put on the table. Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger followed that up Saturday with a report that Colorado is expecting him in Boulder Saturday evening.

From Dellenger’s report:

Multiple sources close to Colorado’s search process confirmed to SI that they are expecting Sanders to land in Boulder around midnight local time this evening on a flight from Jackson, Miss. The Colorado Board of Regents has scheduled a special meeting at 10 a.m. Sunday, presumably to approve Sanders’s contract.

Meanwhile, the university is preparing for a grand announcement on Sunday, and an on-campus celebration is scheduled, multiple people familiar with the plans say.

A year ago, Sanders flipped the No. 1 overall recruit in the class — 5-star defensive back Travis Hunter — in one of the biggest Signing Day surprises we’ve ever seen. Since, Jackson State has hosted ESPN’s College GameDay and blown the doors off just about every team it has faced.

Prime Time has led the Tigers to the SWAC Championship Game (Saturday, 1 p.m. PT) and the first perfect regular season in program history. He’s 26-5 in three seasons as a head coach and 22-2 the last two years.

Multiple reports have suggested Colorado is prepared to pay him around $5 million a year.
