Deion Sanders impact: Joel Klatt predicts Colorado will 'compete for a Playoff spot in Year 2' under Coach Prime
Deion Sanders is already making a big splash as the new head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes.
He’s landed some key players from the transfer portal and is recruiting at a high level already. Now he’ll try to turn the Buffaloes from one of the worst Power 5 teams in the nation into one of the best.
FOX Sports analyst Joel Klatt, a Colorado alum, is all-in on Coach Prime. In fact, Klatt said on Monday that he thinks Colorado will be in the mix for the College Football Playoff in 2024:
βDeion Sanders at Colorado likely, in my opinion, will compete for a playoff spot in year 2 in 2024β@JoelKlatt explains why year 2 under @DeionSanders could be special for @CUBuffsFootball ππ pic.twitter.com/ju62bttzwU

“It’s not what it pays off next year in wins that interests me,” Klatt says. “It’s the year after. … It’s the year USC and UCLA leave to go to the Big Ten. And it’s the year that the Playoff expands. And basically, you win the Pac-12 and you’re going to almost have a guaranteed spot in the Playoff.
“You see where I’m headed with this. I fully expect, in Year 2 under Deion Sanders at Colorado, that they are competing as a top 2 or 3 program in the conference, which means they’re competing for the conference crown, which means they’re competing for a chance to go to the College Football Playoff. I think it can go that quick.”
Will Klatt be proven right? Colorado fans would love to see the turnaround under Sanders take place that quickly.
