Deion Sanders has been offered the Colorado head coaching job.

That bit of news was reported on over the weekend and then later confirmed by Sanders himself. It’s no secret CU is targeting the former NFL star and current Jackson State head coach for its vacancy. But Sanders has stayed tight-lipped about his intentions. As fans and media alike try to figure out whether he’ll take the job, it seems like it’s time to get creative.

And that’s exactly what Rob Jay, Jackson State’s assistant AD for media, did with Sanders earlier this week.

“You know my favorite team is the Kansas City Chiefs, right?” Sanders was asked. “Next week, they play the Denver Broncos in Colorado. I’m going with you? We gonna ride together?”

And Sanders burst out in laughter, saying over and over, “That’s a good one.”

Prime Time led Jackson State to a 24-13 win over Alcorn last Saturday to cap the first perfect regular season in program history. He interviewed for positions at TCU and Colorado State last cycle and is expected to make the jump to an FBS coaching job at some point soon.

His Tigers are set to play in the SWAC Championship Game on Dec. 3.
