Deion Sanders looks to be adding a coach with NFL experience to his Colorado staff. Pat Shurmur is reportedly in Boulder and expected to join Sanders’ staff as an analyst.

Shurmur, 58, has more than 3 decades of coaching experience. He got his start at Michigan State, his alma mater, in 1988 as a graduate assistant. Shurmur was on MSU’s staff from 1990-97 coaching tight ends, offensive line and special teams. His last college job was in 1998 as Stanford’s offensive line coach.

From 1999-to-2021, Shurmur coached in the NFL. He has 4 seasons of head coaching experience with the Cleveland Browns (2011-12) and New York Giants (2018-19). He was interim coach for the Philadelphia Eagles for 1 game in 2015. Shurmur posted a 19-46 record as an NFL head coach. In 2017, he was the AP’s NFL Assistant Coach of the Year as the Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator.
