Deion Sanders and his Colorado staff continue to use the transfer portal to remake the Buffaloes’ roster. Colorado’s latest get from the portal is a defensive back coming off an All-WAC season.

Rodrick Ward, a former Southern Utah safety, announced Sunday that he will continue his career playing for Coach Prime.

Ward is entering his 6th season as a college football player. His career began at Mt. San Jacinto College in 2018.

Ward’s Southern Utah career began in 2019. He appeared in every game for the Thunderbirds as a sophomore, logging 22 tackles and 1 fumble recovery. Over 2020-21, Ward played in 6 games, per his Southern Utah bio.

Last season, Ward played in every game for Southern Utah. He recorded 52 total tackles (36 solo, 16 assists) and 4 interceptions to be named Bluebloods 1st Team All-Conference.

Ward was recently offered by Cincinnati and visited Bowling Green.
